ABCs at ABCD Presentation
The October 29th ABCD presentation on Managing Meltdowns and Behavior was well attended by our members. Our presenter, Dr. Dan Balboni, is the Director of Psychological and Social Services at the Matheny Medical and Educational Center.
Dr. Balboni explained the theories and methods typically used in managing meltdowns and provided examples and scenarios of what to do and what not to do. He explained some of the causes and impetus behind the meltdowns and typical responses. In highlighting various scenarios, Dr. Balboni highlighted how these responses can cause an escalation in the client and methods in which to deescalate.
