Joint CFOO and QA Meeting with OPIA Director

Published On: September 22nd, 2026Categories: News

OPIA Director, Deborah Robinson, met with the members of the CFOO and QA Forums to answer pre-submitted questions, discuss current efforts and talk through ideas for improvement.

The timeline for the closure of investigations has increased due to increased volume and the requirement for more evidence.  There are no consistent outcomes issues, but there is general concern that staff culture over time overlooks the vulnerability and fragility of the served population.

All agreed that many terms need to be redefined and made more concrete, particularly in the areas of incident severity which includes the subcategories of medication, neglect and coding.

OPIA dives deeply into the data collected for the report card. In addition, FSSU has been acting as an informal red flag system as it can discover agency trends.

OPIA is in the process of creating a report card for all providers. They have a prototype which is ready to start making public for comment and then for full release.

ABCD provided numerous ideas for improving the prevention efforts of the state including provider inclusion on QMT. OPIA develops principles while provider sees this from a implementation and sustainability angle; both are important.

We thank Director Robinson for all of her efforts to improve the system and to help providers improve.
