NJ Governor’s Council on Mental Health Stigma
On May 14, the Council hosted a virtual Learning Collaboration, Dual-Diagnosis: A Vision for Better Mental Health Care for the IDD Population, to discuss ideas for developing new mental healthcare services for people with IDD.
Dr. Daniel C. Balboni, PsyD of Matheny Medical and Educational Center outlined a vision for a new specialization to train more clinicians to serve this population and ABCD shared current advances in advocacy. Small break out groups then answered, “What does your organization or community need in terms of better and more appropriate mental healthcare services to serve the IDD populations?”
An important event for the advancement of services and support for a full life in the community for individuals.
Special thanks to Cynthia Chazen, Coordinator of Community Outreach and Partnerships for the NJ Governor’s Council on Mental Health Stigma, Debra L. Wentz, PhD, President and Chief Executive Officer and Shauna Moses VP, Public Affairs and Member Services for the New Jersey Association of Mental Health and Addiction Agencies.
