PLAN/NJ Presentation
Jason Miller, the new Executive Director of PLAN/NJ (who has worked for PLAN/NJ for 20 years and Malanie Miquer the Director of Social Services joined the SCA to discuss person-centered planning and securing futures for people with disabilities. Jason’s presentation mirrored what he provides to families and includes life planning (legal, financial, and home and community), guardianship and alternatives to guardianship, Special Needs Trusts, and ABLE Accounts.
Some interesting additional facts:
- PLAN/NJ is one of the few organizations that will serve as legal guardians
- All PLAN/NJ case management is done in-house
- By design, if they promise a family to look after their son or daughter, it means forever
- PLAN/NJ has a statewide presence.
- It is extremely important that the family picks the right trustee.
