Reasonable Accommodation

July16th’s ABCD presentation on Reasonable Accommodation was well attended by our members. Our presenter, Denise Dadika, Esq. is a partner in the Employment and Labor Group of Epstein Parker and Green.
Denise addressed the widespread rise in accommodation requests due to returning to the workplace and rising mental health issues in the aftermath of COVID. Denise reviewed the federal and state laws regarding the three areas for accommodation: disability, religious beliefs and pregnancy/maternity issues. She also explained the recently enacted federal law entitled: Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, and what this law entails. She also provided scenarios of certain situations and the can’s and cannot’s associated with reasonable accommodation.
