May and June Visits
FSSU Director, Patricia Graham and Chief, James Boyd attended the May meeting of the Residential Committee and the June meeting of the QA Forum to answer questions and share the projects that they are working on. Projects include a five year look back on allegations of physical abuse for which preliminary findings include the behavior tier of the majority, age range, and location. FSSU is reviewing interventions that are being used to prevent abuse and identifying best practices, of which there are precious few. FSSU will be working with a national organization which specializes in child abuse to discuss possible preventive interventions that may translate to our population. Other projects include individualized review opportunities to promote high quality, individualized care, a future newsletter and review of FSSU data to determine trends. Patricia and James stressed their interest in hearing from providers with questions, concerns and ideas. FSSU is there, in part, to provide a service to providers. ABCD members appreciated the validation from an external entity, FSSU. Great meetings.
Acumen Fiscal Agency ED, Asia Tang, Associate Director Jocelyn Summers, and DDD staffers Greg Motchnik and Health Murmur attended the Support Coordination June meeting to provide a transition update, individual/authorized representative enrollment, plan revisions, upcoming training and supports and contact information. They also answered very many questions posed by the membership. We thank them for being so generous with their time. Welcome to the NJ DDD community!
